As a non-profit organization the role of the parents of the members is a critical one. The Dolphin Swimming Club encourages the parents of its members to play an active role in the Club and there are many ways in which the parents may become involved in the Club’s activities. For those parents wishing to play a leading role in the Club’s day to day operations there is an Executive Council whose officers serve for a term of two years. In addition there are numerous sub-committees whose responsibilities involve, promotional activities, fund raising, facility development and maintenance, travel and social events.
All parents are called upon to assist at the Dolphin home meets. Each meet is a fund raising event important in providing new equipment and facilities for the Club. There can never be too many volunteers to assist in the conduct of a meet and all are encouraged to come and lend a hand.
Parents are also encouraged to meet regularly with the Head Coach during the appointed times to discuss their child’s development over the term. It is very important for parents to lead the way in ensuring that their child maintains a good attendance at all training sessions and further that they themselves take an active interest in their child’s progress which requires the parent’s attendance at all meets.
The success of The Dolphin Swimming Club over the years is undoubtedly attributable to the dedication of the many parents whose children have passed through the Club and we only hope to continue this long tradition of parent involvement.
